CONSTANCE RIDLEY-SMITH is a classical pianist and avid scholar-historian about North Nashville. From age 8 she studied piano with the classically trained Charlotte Scott Rhodes and after high school graduation followed Mrs. Rhodes to study music (piano concentration) at North Nashville's Tennessee State University.

Pearl High School was an incubator of hope.in the North Nashville community. Pearl High was an extension of the village of Washington Jr. High School and CoachesJames Tisdale and William Gupton. The village included the homes, churches, and community members of North Nashville. This village became renowned as Coach Cornelius Ridley had unprecedented success, becoming the "winningest coach in NIL History". Ridley coached teams and produced 5 High School Basketball Championships: one national, two in the THSSA; one as a TSSAA Affiliate, and the historic 1966 TSSAA Chamionship win in the first year that Negro teams were allowed to complete.

GREG RIDLEY: Master of Copper Tooling

North Nashville's Artist-in-Residence was the reniwned Greg Ridley. Although Greg was well known for art-making in various media, his masterpiece and most prolific contribution to art was his well-honed ability in cooper tooling or " hammered metal" as the name implies. Greg's art can be found in both North Nashville Institutions at which he taught; his alma mater,  Fisk University, Tennessee University.
